NOTES TO PARENTS AND GUARDIANS

Strings Concerto: Congratulations to our Senior Orchestra and our soloists; Wesley, Ruth, Joyce, Dana, Daniel, Isaak, Tyler, Marku and Jeffrey on their performance at Wednesday’s concert.  Our first ever Concerto was a huge success.

Graduation Invitations: Students graduating in June may pick up invitations to the graduation ceremony in the Guidance Office. All students must complete and return the RSVP card to the office. The deadline is past due. Those requesting additional guest tickets that are currently on the wait list are asked to listen to the announcements for instructions on pick up.

“On the pathway to Success”:  You are invited to attend and see what our co-op students have accomplished this semester at the co-op career fair on Tuesday May 28th in the library.  The fair will be open from 8:40 am – 11:25 am and from 12:55 pm – 3:30 pm.  Students will be displaying information on their job placements, related career information, and education and training. We will also have a display about SHSM and students will be able to answer questions about this program and the benefits they have derived so far.  The students are looking forward to sharing their learning and work experiences and answering questions about each of the careers profiled.

Modified Timetable for the OSSLT – Tuesday, May 14, 2013: The timetable for the day is as follows:

8:15 – 11:30    Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test

Students not taking the OSSLT are to remain in the cafeteria until 11:35 a.m.

11:35 – 11:50             Break

11:50 – 12:23              Period 1

12:27 – 1:00                Period 2

1:04 – 1:36                  Period 3

1:40 – 2:13                 Period 4

2:17 – 2:50                 Period 5

Our New Addition: Construction is scheduled to begin soon on our new wing. In anticipation of the increased construction traffic (and now that the weather is getting a little warmer) we encourage students to walk to school as often as they can. Walking is great exercise, a stress reliever and supports our school’s environmental efforts.

Weekly Attendance Report

Dear Parent/Guardian of «First_Name» «Last_Name»,

Please review the following attendance report. The report includes all lates and absences for the week of Tuesday, May 7, 2013 to Friday, May 10, 2013.

Want more information about student attendance?

Students and parents can pick up a detailed attendance report from the attendance office. This report lists the dates of each absence and the coding (ill, medical, truant). Please remember to call our attendance office (905) 887-2216 (ext. 190) if your son/daughter is absent.

There is a positive relationship between regular attendance and success in school. Students at P.E. Trudeau H.S. are required to attend regularly, to be punctual, and to participate in all scheduled classes.

All absences from school must be authorized. Authorization must consist of a note or phone call from a parent. During school hours, students are expected to be in class and are not allowed to leave without the teacher’s permission. An automated phone system will inform parents of a student’s absence.

Unauthorized absences will be recorded as truancies. Lates and truancies may result in counselling, contact with parent/guardian, detentions, suspensions, and potential removal from the course.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

«First_Name» «Last_Name» has completed and submitted to the Guidance Office «Community_Servi» hours of community involvement. Students must complete 40 hours of community involvement in order to graduate.
