School Council Guest Speaker on Wednesday April 17th: Mark your calendars! At our upcoming meeting on Wednesday April 17th our School Council is hosting a special guest speaker. The topic for the evening will be “What is student wellbeing and why is it important to success?” The presentation will start at 7:00 p.m. We hope you will be able to join us.

Congratulations to the Students in room 105: This week the students in room 105 participated in the SNAP sports program at Bill Crothers Secondary School by playing in a floor hockey tournament against other high schools in York Region. Congratulations to our students for working hard, trying their best and being an amazing team.

Supporting our Students: This week our staff has introduced a new procedure to support student accountability for their attendance. Grade 9 students with an unexcused absence in any class will have a call made home by the office. Students who are found to be truant will have a consequence that will be served the next day. For students in grades 10-12 with unexcused absences, classroom teachers will work with each student to promote improved attendance, if a student accumulates more than 3 unexcused absences, a  referral will be made to an Administrator. Parents and guardians can help to support this new procedure by ensuring that a phone call is made or note is provided as soon as possible when your child is absent from school.

Our New Addition: Construction is scheduled to begin next week on our new wing. In anticipation of the increased construction traffic (and now that the weather is getting a little warmer) we encourage students to walk to school as often as they can. Walking is great exercise, a stress reliever and supports our schools environmental efforts.

Students at School on Weekends:  Many of you may know that our school is used a great deal throughout the week during the evening and on weekends. Students will often stay after-school to study or complete group work in the cafeteria and are welcome to do so until 6:00 p.m. Please know that supervision is not provided on weekends or during the week after 6:00 p.m. Students must not come to the school on Saturday or Sunday to study or do homework. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Linkewich via e-mail.

All meetings begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Library
